Chapter 1: Looking for Work
You steeled your resolve, breathing deeply to calm yourself, and before you could chicken out, rapped loudly on the heavy-set double doors. You stepped back quickly from the threshold and clasped your hands in front of you to stop them trembling. You looked back the way you’d come, back down the long paved drive with its avenue of large evergreen trees and blossoming flower bushes, all manicured to perfection as you’d noticed walking up.
To distract yourself from the agony of waiting, you scrutinised the doors in front of you. They were beautifully carved in shapes of

Jealousy- Lelouch X Reader
“S-sir?”
A meek voice echoed through the storage room, seeking the leader of the black knights.
Lelouch blinked from behind his mask and looked away from some paperwork, wondering who had confronted him.
Could it possibly be...?
Yes.
Of course it was.
There you stood, fiddling with your hair and cheeks tinged pink, avoiding eye contact with your leader. Yes, as much as Lelouch had tried to convince you otherwise, you had become a member of the Black Knights.
‘The problem is that Lelouch had tried to tell her, and not “Zero”’ Lelouch thought, aggravated.
Lelouch recalled a particularly bad day in sc

You Saved Me. Ciel x Reader. 1
You were sitting in darkness, your knees pulled into your chest and your arms wrapped loosely around them. Just like everyday. On occasion, the men in the white coats would come and blindfold you. They'd take you to a bright room and start poking around your body with sharp objects you couldn't see. When they first started to experiment on you, you screamed loudly, crying bloody murder. But now, there was just an unpleasant grunt or two. No benefit would come from you screaming. They'd just cram something into your mouth and you'd be stuck like that until they were finished.
You were confined to this cell ever since your mother passed away s

"Is there anything else you would like me to get for you, your highness?"
"No, that's all (f/n)."
"Of course, your highness."
You curtseyed and left your master to his breakfast. Returning to the hallway, you began your daily rounds of cleaning and whatnot. Being one of only two maids of the Trancy Estate, and as you were the only human, it was quite a bit of work for you and you preferred to start early.
Yes. You knew all about demons and contracts, like the one Master Alois Trancy had with Claude. After all, you could hardly have worked there for so long without noticing. You couldn't say that you approved, but it wasn't your place to p

The rain beat down on the green countryside as warm fires and pleasant company filled the surrounding estates. You however, were not so fortunate. Walking for hours on end, you were soaked to the bone. They had finally had enough. Those people, those selfish horrible people whose house you lived in. They too, had grown ashamed of your poverty and origin. They had run you out the moment the first guests stepped through the threshold of their mansion.
Clad in the torn remains of what was once a dress, you trudged along the muddy road. The black shadow of Death stalking you with each step. You halted as coughs tore through you. The fever was ex

1943, Brooklyn - Before Steve and Bucky join the army
'Are you looking for true love, but do you have trouble finding it? Don't wait any longer and get yourself a 'True love's kiss timer'! After a simple injection it will tell you exactly when the kiss with your true love will take place. Brought to you by... '
Steve turned from the small television and looked around the waiting room of the clinic. Somehow Bucky had convinced Steve to get one of those 'True love's kiss timers', even though he knew a device could never tell him when he would meet his true love, let alone when he'd kiss her.
However, now that the Modern Marv

Gunfire echoed through the hallways of the HYDRA base and Steve took in a deep breath, looking at the woman that was hiding behind him: you. He clenched his fist around his shield, nodding at you. You had been over the plan numerous of times back at the Avengers Tower and while the rest of the team distracted the HYDRA agents, Steve was supposed to take you up to the control room of the base to hack into it and download any information that might help the Avengers locate the remaining HYDRA agents (and Bucky). The base was heavily secured, however, and Steve knew he had de deviate from plan.
He didn't like to leave you alone, even though he

‘So,’ colonel James Rhodes finished, for at least the tenth time this evening, ‘I drop the box in front of his house and say: ‘Are you looking for this?’”
The crowd around him erupted in a melodic laughter and you smiled, slowly shaking your head. You had heard the story so many times that often you even dreamed about it. You thought it was rather funny. Not the story, but the content look on his face every time someone who hadn’t heard it before laughed.
You looked around the room, trying to spot any of the other Avengers. It had been hard to recover after everything that had happened with Ultron.

Steve Rogers woke up to the day before his alarm even went off. It was usual, now. Another habit he had gained from the army. Not the best one, but it could be fairly useful at times. He got up from the bed after another badly slept night. The mattress was too soft.
He sighed and slowly slid his hand down his face, but followed with his routine nonetheless. After a short shower and dressing up, Steve made his way out of the bedroom, but then stopped as he heard clattering on the kitchen.
Steve looked at the corner, making sure his shield was where he had last placed. The only problem: it was located in a spot clearly seen from the kitchen.
